Clinical experience
I have worked within the NHS in a variety of clinical roles since 2010. I have experience working with people and families across the lifespan, in various community and inpatient settings, including physical health environments and A&E. My specialities include eating disorders, trauma (PTSD, developmental, complex and relational trauma), personality disorder and military psychology.

My experience also includes work with non-profit organisations in the UK and overseas and creative projects building resilience in groups using the arts. These opportunities have enhanced my capacity to adapt to different environments and cultures while applying creative solutions to problems.
My approach
I am qualified to deliver evidence-based therapies for a range of psychological difficulties. I am flexible in my approach, integrating multiple psychological theories and techniques to suit your individual situation. I predominantly take guidance from psychodynamic and attachment theory and principles; with supplemental use of cognitive-behavioural therapy, compassion-focussed therapy, and acceptance and commitment therapy techniques; mindfulness, emotion regulation and meditation practices; and cognitive-analytic therapy and systemic processes. You can feel assured that our work will have a rationale led by your specific circumstance and I will share this thinking with you.

I am currently undertaking further training in Intensive Short-Term Dynamic Psychotherapy (ISTDP). This approach aims to resolve internal conflict by supporting the full expression of repressed emotion without the use of habitual unconscious defence mechanisms. If you are interested in this approach please contact me here.
My preferred style is to work collaboratively, and I will regularly ask for your feedback on our work and your experience of me as a therapist. I offer the opportunity to use the therapeutic relationship (the relationship between you and I) to understand some of the difficulties you may face with other people and situations in your everyday life.

The way I work as a therapist is consistent with the way I live my life. You can feel assured that the knowledge I contribute towards our work is informed by my own experience (professional and personal) of its effectiveness.
